Renzo Devia

Supervising Producer

Renzo Devia is a U.S.-born producer and director of Colombian heritage. As an American Latino TV producer, Devia continually strives to project positive and dynamic images of Latinos on television. Devia's production experience began at Univision, the nation's premier Spanish-language network and includes extensive producing experience at MTV and HBO.

At Univision, Devia was an associate producer for the award-winning documentary "Colombia Tierra Nuestra" (Colombia, Our Land), and went on to direct numerous promos, design graphics and produce segments and teasers for the news department.

While field producing for Univision, Devia encountered the Latino audience in the barrios and streets, gaining valuable insight on the shortcomings of both Spanish and English television when it came to serving the growing U.S. Latino audience. After listening to feedback from the people, Devia realized there was a large void in the market.

Devia pitched his ideas and projects to Univision, but after repeated rejections from the Spanish television network, Devia decided to go independent and teamed up with Executive Producer Robert G. Rose (also a former Univision employee) in 2001. His vision became a reality when Urban Latino TV, became the first successful English language, U.S. Latino syndicated program ever, helping pioneer a business model for English language content for young, U.S. born Latinos.

Fresh from this success, Devia and Rose teamed up to form AIM Tell-A-Vision Group's Maximas Productions (a division of Artist and Idea Management, Ltd.) where Devia was responsible in overseeing all aspects of production for the nationally syndicated weeklies American Latino TV and LatiNation, as well as a series of quarterly music specials American Latino Presents and The American Latino Awards.

Devia and the Maximas Productions team have garnered multiple awards including the prestigious Imagen Award for Best National Informational Program three consecutive years (2003, 2004 and 2005) beating larger networks like NBC/Telemundo, HBO, Univision, Fox Sports and more for the honors.

Devia remains committed to producing compelling television that breaks down barriers and helps to overcome stereotypes in underserved audiences.
